What is a graphic novel? I think a graphic novel is a story that’s told through graphical pictures/drawings. Its only words are captions or small details.
Actual definition-
Graphic novel: a novel in comic-strip format.
^^ well I wasn’t ENTIRELY wrong, comic strip format. Mostly made up of illustrations.
Do I know of any? Yes but just one.
Do you have a favorite? Not really but it would probably be captain underpants ^
Is there a specific character that stuck out to you? Yes, captain underpants because he has 2 sides to him.
What about the story drew you in? I really liked the graphics, it’s so colorful and catches my eyes and it looked funny too.
Can you talk about the art style? So the graphics are more unrealistic, they are made up of fictional characters as well as nonfictional looking characters.
How are graphic novels different from other genres? It’s different because it can be all genres all in one not like others. And its more of a format.
What is the appeal of graphic narratives? I think the appeal of graphic narratives could be the illustration itself. People tend to read more and pay more attention when there is more drawings then words.

I remember reading captain underpants when I was little! The graphics and picture are very eye appealing. It was also easy to read and follow, making it great for kids to read. Im also driven by illustrations because that is what I look for in a graphic novel!
ReplyDeleteCaptain Underpants is a banger. I also enjoy how the illustrations were more on the unrealistic side and full of vibrant colors. I feel that's why a lot of us enjoyed reading it as a kid. Illustrations are a very important component just as the writing when it comes to graphic novels and capturing an audience.
ReplyDeleteReally interesting. Captain Underpants was way ahead of its time back in 5th grade, you'd be the cool kid if you had one. Especially with that "Flip-o-Rama" stuff where you flip the pages back and forth to make it look like the drawing is moving. Really cool stuff I would have to say.
ReplyDeleteI loved captain underpants!!! as a gemini i relate to the character and the fact he has two sides to him.
